It was a fantastic day yesterday for families with little ones at South
Lake Health. The birthing, pediatric oncology, neonatal and pediatric
patients got to spend a little time with the Stanley cup.
The Florida Panthers players have been getting their day with the
Stanley Cup and Newmarket's home town hero Sam Bennett chose to
make sure that the little ones had a smile on their face for the day.
Sam brought the cup to the hospital and spent hours talking with
families posing for pictures and making sure that everyone had a
great time.Southlake Health's social media team posted online about
how grateful and thankful they are to have Sam Bennett as part of the
community.
The weekend is here and if you are looking to have a bonfire, you
officially can.
In a rare circumstance the entire York region placed an open air fire
ban in effect because of the extremely dry start to August.
As of yesterday most municipalities in the region deemed it safe
enough to lift the ban. That includes Georgina, Newmarket,Aurora and
Stouffville.
Most municipalities do require you to hold a permit if you are going to
have an open air fire, so be sure to check your municipality's website,
and follow all by-laws when it comes to burning.
Air Canada operations are back to normal now that the contract
dispute with the flight attendants has been solved.
Canada’s largest airline now wants to make it right with their
customers.
Air Canada put out a statement saying that if your flight was canceled
between August 15th and the 23rd you will be eligible for a refund, that
will also cover hotel costs as well.

To begin the process of being refunded for your travel plans you can
visit Air Canada’s customer care portal and submit your claim along
with receipts.
