This weekend is the 27th annual powwow hosted by the Mississaugas Of Scugog island of first nations.

Tickets for the event are available at the gate and the powwow starts at 11 AM on both Saturday and Sunday on Scugog island in Port Perry.

The event provides a chance for the indigenous to share their culture with others across North America.

The event is open to everyone, however a powwow is a celebration of indigenous culture and you are being asked to be respectful if you plan on attending the powwow.

All of Canada’s Primers were together yesterday for day 1 of a 3 day ministers meeting in Cottage country, and Ontario Primer Doug Ford wasted little time signing new free trade deals with British Columbia and the three Canadian Territories.

The framework of the deal is the same that we have seen Ford announce with Alberta, Nova Scotia, and several other provinces.

Ford has been looking to find new trade partners on our side of the border since US President Donald Trump began his tariff talk.

The new free trade deal makes it easier to ship products and workers to other provinces that have signed on to the agreement. According to Ford his deals will potentially unlock 200 billion dollars in economic funds in Canada.

Unionized workers for Canada post will begin voting on the latest contract offer.

The union and Canada post have been going back and forth for sometime with no luck on getting a new deal in place.

Canada’s Jobs minister Patty Hadju stepped in and asked the industrial relations board to force a vote directly through the workers.

The latest contract offer comes with a 13 percent pay increase over the life of the deal and voting will remain open until August first.

Although the workers get to head to the polls themselves, The Canadian union of postal workers is urging everyone to vote no on the deal.
