If you happen to take Queensville Side Road in East Gwillimbury, you’ll have to find another route for your travels for the foreseeable future. The Town announced that they are closing the bridge on Queensville Side Road just 100 metres east of Highway 48 for emergency repairs. Access to private properties will remain open via Centre Street West towards the bridge closure. According to the Town, the construction should take 12 to 18 months.

Ontario’s 2024 Economic and Fiscal Review is set for this week, and as part of the review, the provincial government is looking to extend the temporary rate cut on fuel and gas for the fourth straight time. The rate cuts were first introduced three years ago, and once legislation is passed, the savings will be extended through June of 2025. According to Premier Doug Ford, too many families in Ontario are struggling because of the federal carbon tax, which is why his government is always working to make sure families keep their hard-earned dollars in their pockets.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has a hard week ahead of him. Not only does the pressure continue to mount from within his own party for the Prime Minister to resign, but this week is also the deadline for the feds to up old age security for those between 65 and 75, or face a possible early election. At the beginning of October, the Bloc Quebecois demanded that the federal government increase social assistance, or they will begin negotiations with the NDP and Conservatives in order to call an early election.
