A heat warning remains in effect, and residents are being reminded to stay hydrated, avoid too much time outdoors during the hottest part of the day and check on family, friends and neighbours who may be at risk. The Township has opened cooling centres at the Municipal Office, Uxbridge Public Library and Uxbridge Seniors Centre, and residents can also cool off at the Uxpool or the Uxbridge Splash Pad. Officials are also reminding people never to leave children, older adults or pets alone in a parked vehicle.

A section of Zephyr Road in Uxbridge will be closed between Concession Road 3 and Concession Road 4 from July 13 to October 7 for road reconstruction. After the road reopens, lane restrictions will remain in place until December 2026, with final paving scheduled for 2027. Detours will be in place, local access will be maintained, and businesses in the area will stay open during the construction.

The Region of Durham has become the first municipality in Canada to earn an international certification for information security. Regional officials say the certification recognizes the work being done to keep residents’ personal information safe and secure. The achievement follows more than two years of improvements to the Region’s cybersecurity systems.
