Jessica Pett from the Uxbridge-Scugog Animal shelter joined Dan Pollard for Township talk, to let residents know about the Shelters upcoming Pet Calendars. “So the cutoff, originally we were going to have that September 21st but we’re extending until Friday September 25th at 5:00.” The cost of photo submissions was dropped from $10 to $5 this year. All proceeds will go towards medical fees and other needs for the shelter animals at Uxbridge Animal Control. “We’re asking for photos of animals only please, so no people included.” Photos can be submitted in person at the shelter or online.

New trails are coming to Uxbridge, with about 3 to 4 kilometres of professionally built trails planned between Durham Forest and Dagmar. The Durham Mountain Biking Association and Uxbridge Trails Sustainability Fund are each contributing $35,000, with additional support coming from private donations. The new trails are expected to attract more visitors to the area and support local businesses.

September is Hunger Action Month, and the Uxbridge community is being encouraged to help fight hunger and support local food security. Residents can drop off non-perishable food items at Uxbridge Town Hall or the Uxbridge Public Library until October 5, or make a donation to Feed the Need in Durham. Every donation can help local families and individuals access the food and resources they need.
