Uxbridge has added a new electrical substation at Parks Yard to help meet the community’s growing energy needs. The project, completed by the Township of Uxbridge and Elexicon Energy, will help keep power running reliably and make it easier to restore service during outages. The substation will also add extra capacity for downtown Uxbridge and future development in the area.

Work on the Scugog Community Recreation Centre parking lot is running about four weeks behind schedule after crews discovered problems with the existing soil, asphalt and storm sewer system. The issues were not fully identified before construction and now require additional repairs and replacement work. The project is expected to be finished by late fall 2026, with the upgrades designed to make the parking lot last longer and meet current standards.

Several Durham Region waste facilities will be closed next wednesday Sept. 30 for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The closures include waste management facilities in Brock, Scugog and Oshawa, as well as the Household Special Waste Depot in Clarington. Regular hours will return on Oct. 1.
