Uxbridge is encouraging residents to help fight hunger during Hunger Action Month this September by supporting Feed the Need in Durham. Residents can donate non-perishable food items at Uxbridge Town Hall or the Uxbridge Public Library, or make a monetary donation online, with donations being accepted from September 9th to October 5th. The Township says every donation can help local food banks and community organizations support individuals and families facing food insecurity.

The holiday season is already taking shape in Uxbridge, with preparations underway for this year’s Santa Claus Parade. The parade is inviting local residents, groups and organizations to join the festivities by entering a float. Registration is open until November 14th, giving the community plenty of time to get creative and be part of one of Uxbridge’s favourite holiday traditions.

Prime Minister Mark Carney is criticizing recent comments from U.S. cabinet officials about Canada and its military, “…when the Americans stop doing memes, stop throwing shade, stop trying to be tough and start being serious about having those discussions then we can have those discussions.” Carney says Canada is still open to a deal, but it must protect Canadian jobs, industries and culture.
