A free swim event is being held at Uxpool in Uxbridge on Tuesday, September 1, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The event, hosted by Uxpool and the Uxbridge Swim Club and sponsored by Aces of Uxbridge, will feature activities for children, including Learn to Swim and Swim to Survive stations. Uxbridge Swim Club coaches will also lead sessions during the event.

The Region of Durham is reminding residents about the rules for using e-scooters and e-bikes on local roads, trails and pathways. Riders must be at least 16 years old, helmets are required for anyone under 18, and e-scooters can only carry one person. The Region is also encouraging all users to travel safely, keep at least one metre from pedestrians and other road users, follow traffic in the same direction and slow down in busy areas and at intersections.

Prime Minister Mark Carney will address the European Parliament in Strasbourg next month and attend the European Union’s annual state of the union address. The visit comes as Canada looks to strengthen economic and security ties with Europe amid growing trade tensions with the United States. Carney has been working to reduce Canada’s reliance on the U.S. market, including through closer trade and defence partnerships with the European Union.
