Communities across the region are recognizing Pollinator Week by celebrating the vital role bees, butterflies and other pollinators play in maintaining healthy ecosystems, including mosquitoes. Pollinators are essential for the growth of many fruits, vegetables and wildflowers, supporting both biodiversity and food production. The week also serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about threats to pollinator populations and encourage actions that help protect their habitats.

Residents are advised that all public programs at Uxpool will be cancelled on June 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. due to urgent maintenance work. The temporary closure will affect all scheduled public activities during that time period. Facility staff apologized for the inconvenience and thanked residents for their understanding.

Brock Township council has voted to move ahead with the Beaverton Dog Park this year despite a budget shortfall of more than $8000. Staff had recommended deferring the project to the 2027 budget to secure additional funding, but council directed that the funding gap be covered through the Tax Rate Stabilization Reserve. The dog park project, which has faced several delays due to rising costs and design changes, will now proceed with separate areas for large and small dogs.
