York Regional Police have seized a loaded firearm, suspected cocaine, and cash following a months-long drug trafficking investigation in Georgina and surrounding communities. Police arrested a 26-year-old Georgina man on June 16 and executed search warrants at two homes and two vehicles linked to the investigation. The accused now faces multiple drug, firearms, and probation-related charges, with police alleging he was under a weapons prohibition order at the time of his arrest.
The Town of Georgina is encouraging residents to help keep parks, beaches, trails and neighbourhoods clean through its CleanupGeorgina campaign. Free cleanup kits, including garbage bags and gloves, are available at several Town facilities to support community cleanups. Officials say more than 179 metric tonnes of waste were collected from public bins last year and are reminding residents to dispose of garbage properly and avoid illegal dumping.
A 40-year-old Georgina man has been charged following a shooting in a commercial parking lot earlier this month and police are searching for three additional suspects . Investigators say a firearm was discharged from an SUV during a confrontation on June 4 near Dovedale Drive and Woodbine Avenue, though no injuries were reported. Police say drugs, cash, ammunition and two BB guns were later seized, and the accused now faces multiple firearms and drug trafficking charges.
