After 35 years of service, Steve Sedore is stepping away from his role with Georgina Minor Hockey. Sedore helped guide the organization through the merger of Keswick and Sutton minor hockey associations and played a key role in establishing the Upper York Minor Hockey program. In recognition of his decades of dedication to local hockey, he was awarded a Lifetime Membership at the 2025-26 season banquet.
York Regional Police have charged six people in connection with a homicide in Aurora after a 55-year-old man was found dead at a residence on June 10. The victim, identified as David Gosse, died from blunt force trauma, according to the Office of the Chief Coroner. Police say the investigation is ongoing and are asking witnesses or anyone with security footage from the area to come forward.
The Town of Georgina is inviting residents to a free pollinator celebration this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to learn about the important role bees, butterflies and other pollinators play in the environment. The event will feature educational displays, a wildflower seed bar, refreshments and a keynote presentation from Wildlife Preservation Canada’s Annika Wilcox. Georgina was recently recognized as Canada’s 85th Bee City and is encouraging residents to support pollinator conservation by attending the event and creating pollinator-friendly habitats at home.
