Visitors to the ROC should be aware of a planned power outage for today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. During the outage, the ROC Splash Pad and Canteen will be closed. Both facilities are expected to reopen once power has been restored.
The York Regional Police Association’s annual Memorial Golf Tournament raised $20,000 for local causes during its event on June 10. The funds included $15,000 for Community Living Central York and $5,000 for the association’s Benevolent Fund, which supports police families facing hardship. Organizers say the tournament honours fallen officers while giving back to the community through charitable support.
The Town of Newmarket is reminding residents that catch basins are for rainwater and stormwater only. Officials say oils, grease, cleaning products and other liquids poured into storm drains flow directly into local lakes, rivers and streams without treatment. The town warns that improper disposal can harm fish and wildlife, reduce water quality and damage local ecosystems.
