Durham Regional Police are investigating a serious crash on Thursday evening left one teenage boy with life-threatening injuries after an Audi sedan lost control, left the road, and caught fire on Duffs Road. The 16-year-old was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre and is now reported to be in stable condition, while a 17-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries. Police closed nearby roads for several hours as collision investigators examined the scene.

A major new housing development is being proposed for Reach Street in Port Perry. Malone Given Parsons Ltd has submitted plans for a subdivision that could include between 900 and 1,355 residential units, along with parks, open space, industrial lands, and mixed-use development blocks. The proposal also includes space for a possible long-term care home, while the amount of commercial development has yet to be determined.
