Keswick native Erin Ambrose is headed to Las Vegas after signing with the PWHL’s expansion franchise following a championship season with Montreal. One of the league’s top defenders, Ambrose holds the best plus/minus rating among defenders in PWHL history and was named the league’s 2024 Defender of the Year and a First Team All-Star. The decorated Canadian international has also won Olympic gold and silver medals and earned seven medals at the IIHF Women’s World Championship.

Officers advise people to be cautious of unexpected encounters, avoid accepting gifts or jewelry from strangers, and not allow unfamiliar individuals into their personal space. Residents are also encouraged to keep purses and wallets secure, never leave valuables unattended, and bring expensive purchases directly home rather than leaving them in a vehicle.
A 59-year-old Barrie man and former Air Canada captain has been charged following allegations that he flew more than 900 flights without holding the required airline transport pilot licence. Police say Geoffrey Wall used fraudulent pilot credentials between 2009 and 2025 while serving as a captain on domestic and international routes, earning more than $2.9 million during that time. The investigation began after a Transport Canada regulatory review led to the launch of Project Icarus in January 2026.
