Construction of the new Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter is progressing on schedule and within budget, with the roof and exterior walls now complete and interior plumbing, heating, and electrical work set to begin before concrete floors are poured. Officials from Uxbridge and Scugog toured the site on May 28 and confirmed the nearly 6,453500-square-foot facility at 5500 Lakeridge Road remains on track for occupancy by the end of 2026. Funded through more than $2.8 million in municipal contributions, fundraising efforts, and donations, the shelter will provide modern animal care facilities, adoption spaces, and outdoor exercise areas for both communities.
