The Town of Aurora is preparing to add 4,800 trees to its parks, streets and other public spaces by the end of 2027, thanks to a more than $630,000 federal grant. The planting program includes about 800 mature trees and 4,000 seedlings, with priority given where possible to areas with limited tree cover and those most affected by urban heat. The initiative also aims to help replenish trees lost in July’s severe storm and advance Aurora’s goal of reaching 40 per cent tree canopy coverage by 2034.
