A Georgina resident has been recognized for helping keep the community clean. Town staff presented Tyler McKellar with a certificate in recognition of his efforts to beautify the Town. Over the past few years, McKellar has volunteered his time picking up garbage throughout the community, to help keep Georgina clean and green.

Bradford West Gwillimbury’s growth plan will take about two years longer to complete because of new planning rules from the province. Council approved moving $140,000 from other planning projects to help pay for the extra work without raising taxes. Town staff say the updated plan is important to prepare for future growth and development.

York Regional Police has launched Project Wholesale, a summer initiative aimed at reducing organized retail theft in Aurora and Newmarket. Running until Sept. 1, the project targets high-risk retail locations identified through crime data and ongoing investigations. Police are asking anyone with information about organized retail theft to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
