A new flag is flying at the Civic Centre this month as the Town recognizes Childhood Cancer Awareness Month alongside Candlelighters Simcoe. The annual awareness campaign highlights the impact of childhood cancer, which affects more than 1,000 Canadian children each year, while drawing attention to the support families need throughout their journey. The initiative also celebrates the resilience of young patients and the community organizations working to support them.

The Town of Aurora has released a 362-page third-party review into the death of family dog Heiniu during an animal services response in East Gwillimbury. The report calls for improvements to staff training, animal handling, communication and emergency procedures, while Heiniu’s owner continues to raise questions about the review process. The Town says it will work with its municipal partners on an action plan to address the recommendations.
