The Georgina Senior Games have officially opened and are bringing residents together for fun, fitness and friendly competition. The games are open to Georgina residents aged 55 and older and will run until Oct. 23. Participants can register and find more information at georgina.ca/SeniorGames.

Police in Beaverton have arrested a 40-year-old Brock man following an investigation into the alleged importation of unregulated firearm parts from the United States. A search of a Beaverton residence uncovered two rifles, magazines and ammunition, and police say the man did not have a valid firearms licence. The accused was held for a bail hearing, and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Guns and Gangs Unit.

The Newmarket Public Library will officially open its doors on Monday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. as it expands its hours to include Mondays. The celebration will feature music from the Newmarket Citizens Band and free donuts for the first 100 visitors. The library says the extended hours will give residents more opportunities to access its services.
