Newmarket is adding traffic safety improvements in 14 Community Safety Zones including speed signs, flexible bollards, new pavement markings and other measures. The changes are designed to encourage drivers to slow down and make roads safer for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. The Town is also reminding drivers to be extra careful in school zones as students return to school.

A flood outlook is in effect as heavy rain is expected across the watershed, with 30 to 50 mm of rainfall possible and higher amounts during thunderstorms. The rain could cause flooding in low-lying areas, water on roads and quickly rising water levels in local rivers and streams. Residents are urged to stay away from waterways and keep children and pets away from rivers and streams today and tomorrow.

East Gwillimbury is celebrating the opening of its new HALP Park today from 3 to 9 p.m. The free celebration will feature family activities, live entertainment, program demonstrations, a vendor market, a concert and an outdoor movie. Residents are invited to come explore the new park and enjoy an evening of activities with the community.
