A new trail connecting Memorial Park to the Stouffville-Rouge trail network is now open, giving residents easier access to the Rouge National Urban Park. The project received about $1.5 million from York Region, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and Parks Canada, with the Town of Stouffville contributing over $440,000. The town says it plans to continue expanding the trail network, including working to close another gap between Stouffville and the Rouge.

The OPP is warning vendors about a scam targeting people trying to book spaces at local fairs and community events. Police say someone was recently tricked into sending money by e-transfer to an email address claiming to represent the Elmvale Fall Fair, and was then asked for more money. Vendors are being urged to verify payment requests through official event websites or social media before sending any money.

East Gwillimbury residents are being asked to help choose a new public art piece for Carnaby Park. Three designs are finalists, with themes including Canadian history, the monarch butterfly, and the relationship between people and the land. Voting is open until September 1, with the winning artwork to become a permanent feature of the park.
