Jackson’s Point Parkette has undergone improvements, including wider accessible walkways, upgraded lighting, new seating areas and refreshed landscaping. The revitalized community space also features Adirondack chairs and is now open for residents and visitors to enjoy. The Town thanked the Jackson’s Point BIA and others involved in the parkette improvements.

York Region Public Health has found West Nile virus in a mosquito trap near Main Street and Tenth Line in Stouffville, the second positive test in the area in less than a week. There are no confirmed human cases of West Nile virus in the community. Residents are advised to remove standing water, use insect repellent and wear long sleeves when outdoors.

The York Regional Police Association is extending condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of three Canadian police officers who died over a three-day period. The officers were from the Hamilton Police Service, Durham Regional Police Service and RCMP. The association also encouraged police officers and other first responders to support one another and seek help when needed.
