Georgina residents are being encouraged to check that they’re a part of Ontario’s Voters’ List ahead of the 2026 municipal election, as some records were affected when responsibility for the list shifted from MPAC to Elections Ontario in 2024. Officials say even people who voted in previous municipal elections may need to verify or update their information. Checking early helps ensure voters receive important election information by mail and can avoid delays on election day.

Ontario Provincial Police laid 42 charges and issued 56 warnings during marine and off-road vehicle patrols over the long weekend. Police say alcohol-related offences and lifejacket violations made up more than half of the charges, and two drivers also received seven-day licence suspensions as part of impaired operation investigations. The OPP is reminding boaters and off-road vehicle riders to stay sober, wear a lifejacket, and follow safety rules as enforcement continues throughout the summer.

The Redbirds Lacrosse Club U19 girls team has qualified for the Ontario Women’s Field Lacrosse U19 A Provincial Championships after winning its final regular-season game against the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks. The tournament will be held in Oakville from Aug. 7 to 9 and will feature the province’s top teams. Club officials say the team has exceeded expectations this season and hope to build on last year’s silver-medal finish in the B Division.
