The Township of Uxbridge is reminding drivers that school zones will soon be active again. Drivers are asked to slow down, follow posted speed limits, and watch for crossing areas and parking restrictions. Staying alert can help keep students, crossing guards, and other road users safe.

Scugog Line 6 will be temporarily closed between Highway 7A and Highway 12 tonight for overnight work. The closure is scheduled from about 8 p.m. today until 5 a.m. Wednesday morning, so drivers travelling through the area should plan ahead. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and use an alternate route if possible.

Durham Region is set to host Newcomer Day on Saturday, September 26, bringing together newcomers and long-time residents. The event will offer information about local programs and services, along with cultural performances, community exhibits and activities for children. Newcomer Day runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Region of Durham Headquarters in Whitby, and admission is free.
