Uxbridge residents are being reminded to make sure they are on the Voters’ List ahead of the election. Residents can confirm, update or add their information at the Township of Uxbridge Municipal Office in person Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or by phone. The municipal office will be closed next Monday for labour day. Being on the list ensures residents receive their Voter Information Letter by mail, including the personalized PIN needed to cast a ballot.

A comparison of 2026 property taxes across Durham Region shows that a $540,000 home would have the lowest tax bill in Uxbridge, at about $7,002, and the highest in Oshawa, at about $8,507. The difference is mainly due to each municipality’s local tax rate, while the Region and education portions are the same. The comparison shows that property taxes depend not only on a home’s assessed value, but also on the local tax rate.

The Bank of Canada has unveiled a new vertical $20 bill featuring a portrait of King Charles III, replacing the late Queen Elizabeth II. The notes are green polymer just like the last, and include new security features, Canadian floral emblems and the Canadian National Vimy Memorial on the back. The new bill is expected to gradually enter circulation in late February 2027.
