Canada is responding to the latest U.S. tariffs by placing new counter-tariffs on more than 700 American products worth about $27.6 billion, with the measures taking effect Sept. 8. The federal government is also introducing a $7.5-billion support package to help Canadian workers and businesses affected by the ongoing trade dispute. Officials are encouraging Canadians to buy Canadian-made products, while businesses warn the tariffs could also increase costs for companies that rely on goods and materials from the U.S.
