The Town of Georgina is upgrading the playground at Holmes Point Park, replacing aging equipment with a new, accessible play area designed for children ages five to 12. The project will make it easier for everyone to enjoy the playground, with improved access from the parking lot, ramps to the main play structure and a range of accessible features, while the existing junior play area and swings will remain. Construction and restoration are expected to take place between September and October, with the new playground scheduled to be completed in October.

Georgina residents can register for fall recreation and culture programs, starting at 8:30 a.m. Today. Residents are encouraged to check their online accounts ahead of time, update their information and save programs to their wish lists to make registration easier. Non-resident registration opens August 25, with program details and registration available through the Town of Georgina’s recreation website.

A member of the Bogart family is working to preserve the history of Bogarttown and the historic Bogart House on Leslie Street in Newmarket. The 1811 home is expected to be restored as part of the planned Bogart Hills townhouse development, although restoration work has not yet begun. Family members also hope to search the property for historic artifacts before construction gets underway.
