A young child was injured at the Lion’s Universal Accessible Playground in Elgin Park in Uxbridge on August 10. The Township says playground equipment had previously been identified as needing maintenance and was taped off, but reported security footage shows teenagers removed the caution tape and tampered with the equipment before the incident. The Township is cooperating with the ongoing investigation and says its thoughts remain with the injured child and their family, wishing the child a full recovery.

An appeal board has ruled that five players from Canada’s 2018 world junior team broke Hockey Canada’s code of conduct. The players were acquitted of sexual assault charges last year, Hockey Canada has accepted the board’s recommended suspensions, with one player cleared for immediate reinstatement and the other four players facing reinstatement dates between 2027 and 2030. Over the past eight all five players have continued playing hockey in Canada and overseas.
