Creative designs transformed the iconic Lake Simcoe fish into colourful works of art, drawing families and visitors together to celebrate local talent and the community’s connection to the lake. Organizers have thanked participants and supporters for making the event a success, with the artwork and ribbons now available for pickup through the Art Gallery of Georgina.

York Regional Police are reminding pet owners never to leave animals unattended in hot vehicles after two small dogs were rescued from a car at a local mall. Officers smashed a window to reach the dogs after members of the public called 9-1-1. The dogs are expected to be OK. Police say the vehicle’s owner was facing two criminal charges and six by-law charges and received a lifetime ban from the mall. Police warn that temperatures inside vehicles can become dangerously hot within minutes. They say leaving a window cracked or water in the car is not enough. Anyone who sees a pet trapped in a hot vehicle should call 9-1-1.

Construction is now underway on Aurora’s new 4.4-kilometre multi-use path along Yonge Street, with crews clearing the area and preparing the route between Bloomington Road and Industrial Parkway. The project will provide safer space for pedestrians, cyclists and other users, connecting residents to trails, schools, businesses and the Aurora GO Station. Work is expected to continue into late fall, with landscaping planned for spring 2027, drivers can expect lane closures and delays during construction.
