A former Durham Regional Police officer is facing five more charges in a decades-old sexual assault investigation, Ontario’s police watchdog says. Kevin Seamons was already charged earlier this year with 22 sexual assault-related offences, and the new charges involve allegations from a second woman dating back to between 1999 and 2009. He is scheduled to appear in an Oshawa court on Aug. 28.

U.S. President Donald Trump called Canada and its leadership “nasty” during a speech in Las Vegas on Wednesday while defending tariffs. Prime Minister Mark Carney responded Thursday by saying Canada and the U.S. are in a “tough negotiation” and that more talks with Trump are expected. The comments come as both countries continue trade negotiations ahead of new U.S. tariffs set to take effect on Aug. 19.
