A 68-year-old Ottawa man has been arrested following an RCMP investigation into alleged immigration fraud and identity-related offences. Police allege the man lived in Canada under a false identity since 1996 and was wanted under an international arrest warrant issued by Rwandan authorities in connection with allegations related to the 1994 Rwandan genocide. The case involved several Canadian agencies and international cooperation, and the charges will now proceed through the Canadian court system.

Ontario residents can fish without a licence or Outdoors Card anywhere in the province from June 27 to July 5 as part of the annual Canada Day free fishing week. The province says the initiative encourages more people to get outdoors and enjoy Ontario’s lakes and rivers while supporting local tourism and recreation. Anyone taking part must still follow all fishing regulations, including catch and size limits, and carry government-issued identification showing their name and date of birth.
