York Regional Police are asking for witnesses after a cyclist was seriously hurt in a crash with a dump truck on Doane Road east of Warden Avenue in East Gwillimbury on Wednesday morning. The 58-year-old cyclist from Markham was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the truck driver stayed at the scene. Anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam video is asked to contact York Regional Police.

Ontario residents can fish without a licence or Outdoors Card anywhere in the province from June 27 to July 5 as part of the annual Canada Day free fishing week. The province says the initiative encourages more people to get outdoors and enjoy Ontario’s lakes and rivers while supporting local tourism and recreation. Anyone taking part must still follow all fishing regulations, including catch and size limits, and carry government-issued identification showing their name and date of birth.
