The Town of Newmarket has launched a new on-demand language interpretation service that residents can access in person or by phone, helping people connect with Town services in their preferred language. Following a successful 2025 pilot program with MCIS Language Solutions, the service now offers immediate access to trained interpreters in more than 300 languages. The initiative, along with website translation options in 12 commonly spoken local languages, aims to make municipal services more accessible, inclusive and welcoming for all residents.

Exciting upgrades are coming to the Jacksons Point Parkette, with improvements including new lighting, sidewalks, seating, and more. The project is being funded through a $90,000 contribution from the Town of Georgina and an additional $15,000 from the BIA, following several years of planning and collaboration. Construction will begin shortly, with the revitalized Parkette expected to be ready in time for the Painted Perch Festival on August 8.

Aurora council has approved plans for a new five-storey apartment building with 148 units at Yonge Street and Old Yonge Street, along with the relocation and restoration of the historic Red House. Many residents opposed the project, citing concerns about traffic, safety and the building’s size, while the developer said changes were made based on community feedback. The project still requires final council approval and additional planning steps before construction can begin.
