York Regional Police are reminding residents to follow the rules for riding e-scooters and e-bikes after Southlake Health reported a 44 per cent increase in e-scooter-related injuries among children under 16 over the past year. Police note that anyone under the age of 16 is not legally permitted to operate an e-scooter, and that the use of e-scooters is restricted or prohibited in some municipalities. With e-scooters and e-bikes becoming increasingly common on local streets, officers are encouraging riders to familiarize themselves with safety regulations before heading out this summer.
