The Township of Uxbridge has released the first draft of its updated Official Plan as part of the “Envisioning Our Uxbridge” review process. The new plan combines the former Regional Official Plan and the Township Official Plan into a single document that will guide future growth, land use, infrastructure, housing, and community development. Township officials say the updated plan is designed to support sustainable growth while maintaining a high quality of life for residents and protecting local resources.

Tomorrow is Road Side Giveaway Day in Durham Region. Residents are encouraged to place unwanted items in good condition at the curb and clearly mark them as “FREE” for others to take. Acceptable items include furniture, books, clothing, tools, electronics, and other reusable household goods, while hazardous materials, food, mattresses, weapons, and certain children’s products are prohibited. Organizers remind participants to follow safety guidelines, avoid blocking roads or sidewalks, and remove any unclaimed items from the curb by 7 p.m.

The Toronto Police Service is mourning the loss of 43-year-old Constable Marc Pinizzotto, an Emergency Task Force officer who was fatally shot while executing a search warrant near Black Creek and Trethewey Drive yesterday morning. Pinizzotto was taken to hospital after receiving emergency care but later died from his injuries. Police say the investigation is connected to several recent shootings, including one at the U.S. Consulate, and are seeking an outstanding 19-year-old suspect.
