Metrolinx has announced that GO Train service on the Lakeshore East line will be suspended for the weekend of June 6 and 7 to allow for major track upgrades. Replacement GO buses will operate on parts of the route, while some stations will have no GO service and passengers are being advised to use the TTC. The work is part of the GO Expansion program and supports future projects including the Ontario Line and East Harbour Transit Hub, with regular train service set to resume on Monday, June 8.
The Township of Scugog is being asked to approve an additional $127,600 for the rehabilitation design of Old Simcoe Road after engineers identified several issues that will require further investigation and repair. The project’s estimated cost has increased from the original $120,000 budget to $247,600 due to added consulting fees, surveys, soil testing, and design work related to storm sewers and road conditions. Detailed design work is expected to be completed by fall 2026, with construction tentatively scheduled for 2027 following utility relocations.
Uxbridge Mayor Dave Barton is congratulating the Uxbridge Tigers rugby team after they captured the 2026 provincial championship and OFSAA gold medal. The Grade 12 squad capped off a remarkable high school career that included four straight LOSSA 7s and LOSSA 15s titles, as well as a Grade 10 Barbarian Cup championship. Barton also thanked the coaches, volunteers, parents, families, and fans who supported the team, saying the players represented Uxbridge with pride, determination, and class.
