Uxbridge Urban Provincial Park is set to expand by 23 acres, adding ecologically significant land in the Oak Ridges Moraine and helping protect important grassland habitats. The Ontario government says the expansion could boost local tourism and economic growth, while creating opportunities for new trail connections and recreational facilities. The park, which opened in 2024 as Ontario’s first urban provincial park, continues to grow through a $19-million provincial investment and now serves as one of the most accessible provincial parks for GTA residents.

Two Scugog organizations will receive more than $70,000 in provincial funding through Ontario’s 2026 Experience Ontario program. Theatre 3×60 has been awarded $55,000 for its Summer Festival 2026, while the Scugog Council for the Arts will receive $15,965 to support Culture Days in Scugog. The province says the funding will help strengthen local arts and culture, attract visitors, and support economic growth in North Durham.

Ontario’s Court of Appeal has dismissed the provincial government’s bid to overturn an order requiring Premier Doug Ford’s government-related call logs from his personal cellphone to be reviewed for possible public release. The ruling revives a directive from the Information and Privacy Commissioner tied to a transparency dispute over Greenbelt development decisions made in 2022. However, the Ford governments recently passed retroactive changes to Ontario’s freedom of information laws could complicate or potentially limit the release of those records.
