The Town of Georgina has Flags at Town facilities and at the intersection of Ravenshoe Road and Woodbine Avenue at half-mast in honour of Marc Pinizzotto, a Toronto police officer who was killed in the line of duty yesterday morning. The 43-year-old Emergency Task Force member was fatally shot while officers executed a search warrant connected to several shooting investigations in Toronto. The Town has extended its condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the broader Toronto Police Service community as investigations continue.

York Region is applying for $1.74 billion from the federal and provincial governments to help pay for a major sewage system expansion needed to support new housing. If the funding is approved, the region would have to reduce fees charged to developers, which local leaders say could put added financial pressure on municipalities and taxpayers. Councillors say the project is important for future growth, but it is unclear how much funding the region will receive.

The decision means Innisfil will not seek funding through the program before the June 19 application deadline.
