The Town of East Gwillimbury is urging eligible voters to check and update their information on the Voters’ List ahead of the Municipal and School Board Election on October 26, 2026. Accurate voter information helps ensure residents receive their Voter Information Letter and can vote without delays. Residents can verify or update their name, address, and school board support in minutes through the province’s online voter registration system at registertovoteon.ca.

York Region has applied for provincial funding to help build the North York-Durham Sewage System Expansion, a major infrastructure project that would support about 50,000 new homes in Aurora, East Gwillimbury, and Newmarket. Regional Council approved the application on June 11 as part of a program designed to reduce development charges and fund growth-related infrastructure. A funding decision is expected later this summer.

A York Regional Police officer has been charged following an internal investigation by the Professional Standards Bureau. Constable Kivijan Ketheeswaran faces charges of unauthorized use of a computer and breach of trust by a public officer and has been under suspension since April 2025. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Newmarket on September 8, 2026.
