The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority says water levels on Lake Simcoe remain about seven centimetres above average, with shoreline flooding continuing in some low-lying areas. Strong westerly winds and the possibility of additional rainfall this week could increase wave activity and worsen localized flooding along the shoreline. A Shoreline Hazard Watch – Moderate Risk remains in effect until June 26, and residents in flood-prone areas are urged to take precautions and stay clear of high-water areas.

The Town of Newmarket has launched a new Housing Action Plan to help address housing affordability and shortages in the community. The plan focuses on making housing more affordable, increasing the variety of homes available, and supporting long-term housing solutions. Town officials say the plan will help guide future housing decisions and work alongside other planning projects already underway.

A 52-year-old Newmarket registered massage therapist has been charged with two counts of sexual assault following separate incidents reported at an Aurora wellness clinic. York Regional Police say the incidents occurred during massage appointments in April at a clinic near Yonge and Edward streets. Investigators have released the accused’s photo and are asking anyone with information or additional complaints to contact police.
