Ontario plans $200 rebate checks, Georgina celebrates Small Business Week, and Trudeau faces another cabinet shuffle.

Transcript

The Town of Georgina will be celebrating Small Business Week this upcoming week. There will be a lot going on throughout the course of the week, and that starts with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Georgina Chamber of Commerce. Once the ribbon is cut, then the events will start. You can expect open houses, workshops, network opportunities, and so much more at the annual conference. Mayor Margaret Quirk released a statement saying that small businesses are the backbone of the economy in Georgina, and she encourages people to go out and celebrate them. If you want a full schedule of events, you can visit ChooseGeorgina.ca.

Ontario residents will be getting a rebate check soon, courtesy of the Provincial Government. The Ford Government is still going through the logistics of how much that check will be worth, however it is expected to be at least $200 a person, which will cost the province roughly $3 billion. The rebate is expected to help offset the cost of living in the province, and all the details will be laid out by Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy during the government’s fall economic statement on October 30th.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be shuffling his cabinet yet again, as four more cabinet members have announced that they will not be seeking re-election. Marie-Claude Bibeau, Carla Cuatro, Dan Vandell, and Philomena Tassi have all been with the Liberal Party since 2015 and have informed the Prime Minister of their decision. Since the start of summer, Justin Trudeau has now lost six cabinet members, the two biggest being Seamus O’Regan and Pablo Rodriguez. There is no set date as to when the shuffle will happen, however advisers to the Prime Minister are suggesting it take place post-November 5th.
