October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the provincial government is doing their part to help. Yesterday, it was announced that Ontario has lowered the age for regular mammogram breast screenings so that now all women 40 or older can self-refer for the service. The new age restriction comes into effect immediately. Former Canadian fashion mogul Peter Nygaard has been denied bail as he continues to appeal his sexual assault convictions and his 11-year prison sentence. An Ontario Court Appeal Judge threw out the bail application saying that the 83-year-old’s appeal appears to be weak and that he is at a flight risk since he faces charges in other jurisdictions outside of Toronto. Last year, Nygaard was convicted on four counts of sexual assault after several women came forward with allegations that ranged from the 1980s all the way to the mid-2000s.
